Scientific and Practical Information on Dendritic Cells and their
Clinical Applications
This website is intended to give information on dendritic cells and their
applications in oncologic patients and is made possible by donations and
other forms of support from mainly grateful patients, their relative members,
and non-profit (tax-exempt) organizations. This web site does not claim to be
inclusive of all scientific literature ever published. For this purpose,
special archives like MedLine and MedLib have been established. The editors
of this web site have collected information from scientific sources,
patient`s testimonies in writing and through video clippings, and
documentation from clinicians and medical centers of good standing throughout
the world with extensive experience in these fields. Their effort is to
target the lay public to gather information on dendritic cell therapy and
supportive measurements to enhance immune restoration in the oncologic
patient.
At the
Medical Center Cologne in Germany (MCC), the Director Robert Gorter,
MD, PhD., is a cancer survivor himself for over 33 years and when diagnosed
with stage IV cancer in 1976, he decided to apply to himself targeted immune
therapy rather than any standard (chemo-)therapy of that time. Since then, he
has been dedicated to treat cancer patients (and later on also people living
with chronic viral infections like HIV and Hepatitis B & C) in new and
pragmatic ways through immune restoration and other measurements. Through his
extensive clinical and scientific experience, through the years, Robert
Gorter has developed what is now called the
“Cologne Model.” One of the
objectives of the Cologne Model has always been not to be an alternative (or
in opposition) to standard medicine but to be an extended form of Western
Medicine with its roots firmly in scientific tradition. The content of this
website reflects in part those principles and clinical experience gathered by
Robert Gorter and his associates.
